This 1982 BU Set of coins was minted by The Royal Mint in Llantrisant and issued by the New Zealand Government Treasury. It was issued in a blue plastic wallet.
The set contains six standard definitive coins. 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c & 50c.
The NCLT $1 coin is commemorating the flightless Takahe bird which can only be found in New Zealand. They are the size of a large chicken, have blue and green feathers and a red bill. Takahes eat tender grass stalks, bugs and fern roots. By the 1900s, people believed these birds were extinct.
This NCLT $1 coin has the G.J. Berry Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
