This Two Coin One Dollar Set was issued in this 1999 twin coin folder. One coin commemorates the International Year of Older Persons. Each year the United Nations General Assembly designates a theme to help draw attention to important issues worldwide. It was declared that 1999 would be the International Year for Older Persons. The RAM issued this coin into circulation to mark the event.
The other coin was commemorating the Last Anzacs and had a “C” Mintmark. To acknowledge the sacrifice and valour of the landings of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli in 1915 the RAM released this NCLT Last ANZACS dollar coin in 1999. By 1999 even a boy who had lied about his age to join the army at 15 or 16 would be 100, and sadly, veterans of Gallipoli were very few indeed.
The set was issued in a twin coincard.
