W 1688 r. cena złota i srebra wzrosła o 20%. Nie było czasu na zebranie i odlanie wszystkich krążących monet. Dlatego na mocy ustawy z 04 sierpnia 1688 r. wartość srebrnych i złotych monet również wzrosła o 20%.
Jednak w ciągu ~150 lat monety pozostały niezmienione, a wartość monet obiegowych wzrosła o 20%.
