(en) Coins were only minted with the Arabic spelling that is transliterated as “Akhalsikh". The earliest known coins minted in Akhalsikh begin in 698 AH (1298) under the name of Ghazan Mahmud of the Ilkhanate. Recently, at least two coins have surfaced that are attributed to Akhalsikh that were minted in the name of the Jalaryid ruler Shaykh Uways. It is believed that the reduced coinage of Kvarkvare/Qvarqvare also came from this mint, though it lacks the mint name. Akhalsikh is an understudied mint that was only identified in 1944 by Tamar Lomouri. Prior to this, his mint was previously misidentified as Ikhshin. Coins from this mint are considered rare.
