(en) Ilse was an ancient Iberian mint possibly located in modern-day Gerena, Seville. There is no reference to a city with this name in classical texts, so it has been also suggested that it could be a short spelling of "Ilipense" or a contraction between two different mints such as Ilipa and Searo. The monetary rates and the metrology are similar to those of Ilipa: absence of human images in the early issues and a transition to anthropomorphism in the later issues.
