Gordiano III - Quintillo. Vol. I

The "ripostiglio [storeroom] della Venèra," which takes its name from the place where, in 1876, were found some 47,000 Roman coins, is among the most important and largest finds of coins of the third century A.D. The cataloguing of it according to scientific criteria was launched in 1981; published so far are the volumes on Tacitus and Florianus, Gordian III-Quintillus and on Aurelian; the volumes on Probus and on Carus-Diocletian will follow.

Il ripostiglio della Venèra, che prende il nome dalla località dove nel 1876 furono rinvenute circa 47.000 monete romane, è tra i più importanti e consistenti ritrovamenti monetali del III secolo d.C. La sua catalogazione secondo aggiornati criteri scientifici fu avviata nel 1981 e ha visto sino ad ora la pubblicazione dei volumi su Tacito e Floriano, Gordiano III - Quintillo e su Aureliano.
