Cercetări Numismatice

The first issue of Cercetări Numismatice magazine was published in 1978, being edited until 1995 under the guidance of Constanța Știrbu. The initial purpose of the publication was to capitalize on the impressive collection of the newly established Numismatic Cabinet within the National Museum of Romanian History, but the few specialized publications existing at that time made the Numismatic Research magazine enjoy a remarkable success, among the authors of the studies there are specialists from all over the country and abroad, as well as enthusiasts of numismatics, whose collections complement the material kept in public museums.
Since the first issue of the publication, an important place in the pages of Numismatic Research was also occupied by the studies dedicated to the auxiliary sciences of history such as: medalistry, sigilography, faleristics, genealogy, metrology, fields for which even today, in Romania, there are specialized publications through which the pieces of heritage that are the object of research in these fields are valorized.
Although from the first issue until now the magazine Cercetări Numismatice has been printed intermittently, in recent years the publication has enjoyed a constant appearance, which the Numismatic Cabinet of the National History Museum of Romania takes care to respect and thus ensure its appearance from year to year.
