To the content
This book, which has also been translated into English, deals with the history as well as the historical background of the shooting thalers and shooting medals from Switzerland.
More than 2500 thalers and medals from the early 17th century to 1960 are listed in detail and mostly reproduced.
From engraved unique pieces to medals with a mintage of several 1'000 copies, all pieces were supplemented with a rarity indication as well as two evaluations for the conditions "vz-unz/AU53" and "FDC/MS64”.
For the first time ever, market availability was determined for the more common pieces, which should enable the collector to estimate how often or how rarely seen and/or offered a specific medal is today.
Three different index categories, chronologically sorted ac- cording to age, alphabetically sorted by place and alphabetically sorted according to inscription allows the collector to efficiently determine practically every medal and look it up in the catalogue.
The current second edition has been extended considerably, especially with regard to information on the individual medals, whereby several hundred newly discovered speci- mens have been recorded, described and evaluated.
As far as valuations are concerned, these were revised from scratch and adjusted to the current market conditions.
Due to these factors, this book an indispensable reference work when it comes to researching and evaluating Swiss shooting thalers and shooting medals.
