Marie-Adelaïde (1894 - 1924) became Grand Duchess of Luxembourg following the death of her father Guillaume IV in 1912. After the First World War, she abdicated in 1919 under pressure from the Luxembourg parliament in favor of her younger sister Charlotte. The Luxembourg population accuses her of too much involvement in the political affairs of the country and of maintaining relations with Germany.

These trial strikes were struck in 1949 at the Brussels mint and are quite easy to find in silver and copper.
