As well as being for circulation, the 2006 strike was issued as part of the Annual Coin Sets for 2006, in both Brilliant Uncirculated & Proof qualities. It was also available in a twin BU pack on 20/05/2006 (37,176 sales) with the Victoria Cross Medal design.

The coin was re-issued in October 2009 as part of the 16-piece set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination. The 2009 issue was also struck in silver proof, gold proof and gold piedfort. Issue limit: 5,000.
