Skaczący bock (Capra ibex) na białym polu był flagą heraldyczną hrabiów Raetii. Raetia była prowincją Imperium Rzymskiego, nazwaną na cześć ludu Raetian. Chur był niegdyś rzymskim obozem warownym, po łacinie Curia Raetorum, a w 15 r. p.n.e. stał się stolicą Raetia Prima.
