Bohl# 33

Bohl included a description of this coin under number 33 in his catalog “Die Trierischen Münzen - Chronologisch geordnet und beschrieben” ( 1823) but he did not own this coin himself; he saw it at the collection of Count von Renesse-Breidbach which was auctioned off by his heirs in Antwerp in 1836.
In the standard work on the coins of Trier by Schrötter Bonn, “Die Münzen von Trier - zweiter Teil” (1908), there is only the description taken from Bohl.

Further research revealed that the piece is neither in the Berlin Coin Cabinet
(Bohl's son sold the Bohl collection to the then Royal Coin Cabinet for 2,000 thalers in the 1860s after his father's death)
nor in the Trier State Museum (together with Berlin, the largest and most comprehensive collection of coins from the Archdiocese of Trier).

It is highly likely that it was this piece that was auctioned in Antwerp at the time.

Therefore, this sixth is probably the only surviving example of this variant today, and the descriptions by Bohl and v.Schrötter refer to this piece.
