According to The Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine (pg. 278) 9/1/1965, “The HSNA is having 500 sets of medals struck in Canada again this year one in silver and one in bronze and serially numbered. Price is $12.50 a set with a maximum of three sets to a person. The nuclear submarine Kamehameha is on the obverse with King Kamehameha on the reverse.”

 

And Coin World [11/17/1965] (pg. 75) 11/17/1965 says, “Official medal of the recent Hawaiian State Numismatic Association Convention designed by Jane C Van Dyke of Honolulu portrays Kamehameha the Great the Napoleon of the Pacific and first king of the Hawaiian Islands on the obverse. The reverse depicts the spirit of Kamehameha welcoming the SSBN 642 America’s 30th nuclear Polaris missile submarine named in the great Hawaiian king’s honor. Struck in a limited quantity of 500 serially numbered silver and bronze pieces sets of these medals are being offered to collectors at $12.50 each.”
