KONSTANTYN I WIELKI (307-337) urodził się w 274 r. jako syn Konstancjusza Chlorusa i Heleny. Po śmierci ojca 25 lipca 306 r. został mianowany cezarem, a 25 grudnia 307 r. ogłoszono go augustem. Ożenił się z Faustą, córką Maksymiana Herkulesa, która urodziła mu pięcioro dzieci, z których troje było Augustami.
