Produkcja tego typu rozpoczęła się w 330 roku. Od 318 r. brąz był cięty do 1/96 funta (teoretyczna waga 3,38 g). Reforma obniżyła wagę monet do 2,46 g (1/132 funta). Niektórzy postrzegali to jako zmniejszenie wagi tylko do 1/128 funta (2,536 g). Wydaje się jednak, że moneta zachowała swoją wartość pomimo zmniejszenia wagi.
