Series: Wreath
(en) Star comprising of six radiate arms with central pellet. Unknown letters between.
(en) Boy on dolphin right. Inscription below, traces of pseudo inscription above.
Script: łaciński
Lettering: TINC
Unabridged legend: Tincomarus.
Van Arsdell Classification: Atrebatic D, First Coinage of Tincomarus. Reverse adapted from a denarius of L. Lucretius Trio.
Sills says the design is classical, from the Augustan DIVVS IVLIVS (Sear 1607), but very crude. The reverse inscription is often missing. Sills has the Wreath stater (ABC 1094) and Comet unit as equivalents at the end of Tincomarus's reign and possibly posthumous. They follow on from the Warrior Com F Tin stater (ABC 1067) and its equivalents.
Sills chronology: Gallo-Belgic Ca - Insular Cf / Aa Westerham - British Ad - British Q and L - British Qa-b Derivatives - Commios - Tincomarus.
