(en) "The “alerion” gros of Bishop Charles of Lorraine-Chaligny is an imitation of the Lorrainian gros issued by Duke Henri II of Lorraine. The letter G on the reverse is a reproduction of the mark of the masters of the Nancy mint: Nicolas Gennetaire (1582-1618) and Claude Gennetaire (1618-1624). [...] On 11 January 1623, the Duke of Lorraine ordered the withdrawal of the “alerion” gros issued by the Bishop of Verdun [...]".
