This coin celebrates the New Zealand's athletes’ Olympic aspirations ahead of the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled for July/August 2021.
The New Zealand team's call to action for Tokyo 2020 'Earn the Fern' is transliterated into katakana on the reverse.
