(en) CNI assigns a date range of 1250 - 1280 for coins struck in the name of Frederick II, but the grosso of 4 denari has recently been assigned a narrower range.

Variety with circle and inscribed cross, obverse (behind bust) and reverse (at top). This mark is ascribed to a monetary union between Bergamo, Berscia, Como, Pavia and Piacenza, and can be dated to 1251-1253.
