Podczas wojny francusko-holenderskiej w 1672 r. mennica została przeniesiona z Dordrechtu do Amterdamu. Monety piedfort zostały wyprodukowane przy użyciu prasy śrubowej, która nie była jednak obecna w mennicy w Amsterdamie. Prawdopodobnie monety te zostały wyprodukowane przez Adolphiego w jego prywatnej mennicy, jako dowód mistrzowski, aby ubiegać się o pracę w mennicy amsterdamskiej (której nie otrzymał).

During the Franco-Dutch war of 1672, the mint was moved from Dordrecht to Amterdam. The piedfort coins were produced using a screw press, which was not present in the Amsterdam mint though. Probably these coins were produced by Adolphi in his private mint, as a master proof to apply for a job at the Amsterdam Mint (which he did not get).

 

Varieties with and without inner circles are known, with catalog references corresponding like this:

HPM refers to Delmonte 1018a with number Am 11.1, although it does not mention it being a double weight (piedfort) coin, but, instead, HPM refers to the presence of inner circles or not.
