Około 3000 srebrnych groszy noszących imię Knuta znajdowało się w skarbie Cuerdale, znalezionym w pobliżu Preston w hrabstwie Lancashire w 1840 roku. Sugerowana data pochówku tej skarby to ok. 905 r., wkrótce po wypędzeniu Wikingów z Dublina. To, kim był Cnut i gdzie panował, pozostaje w sferze domysłów.
