Earlier (in the catalog of I.V. Grishin, V. N. Kleshchinov; 2007) this type was defined as a counterfeit intended for circulation, while more modern opinion (catalog of I.V. Grishin, V. N. Kleshchinov, A. V. Khramenkov; 2015) is that it was a secret State issue of the Yaroslavl mint which was used for additional profit of the State because these Kopecks have lower weight and fineness
