When WWII ended in August 1945, counterfeit banknotes started to be widespread, especially in 20 Baht and 50 Baht denominations. The government considered to demonetize all banknotes of those denominations, but due to banknotes shortage, the government had to prepare new banknotes.
The government ordered banknotes from Thomas de la Rue, but the company had not yet recovered. Instead, the government ordered new banknotes from Tudor Press Inc.
While waiting for the new notes, the government issued emergency banknotes; 1 Baht "Invasion" and 50 Satang "Thai Thief" to relieve the banknote shortage situation.
King Rama VIII died shortly before the banknotes are transported and issued.
The government quickly demonetized all previous 20 Baht and 50 Baht banknotes. They stopped being legal tender on December 1st, 1946 and could be redeem until June 1st, 1947.
