Dwie pierwsze cyfry numeru seryjnego odpowiadają dwóm ostatnim cyfrom roku emisji (90360637 = 1990).

W dniu 8 października 1991 r. Bank Słowenii wyemitował tymczasowe banknoty płatnicze, wprowadzając je do obiegu jako walutę tymczasową. Istniało dziesięć różnych nominałów tych banknotów (1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 5000). Wszystkie zostały wyemitowane 8 października 1991 roku, z wyjątkiem banknotu o nominale 5000 jednostek, który został wyemitowany 27 maja 1992 roku. Tymczasowe banknoty płatnicze wyszły z obiegu 6 listopada 1992 r. (1000), 30 czerwca 1993 r. (1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500) i 1 lutego 1994 r. (5000).

We wrześniu 1992 r. do obiegu wprowadzono pierwsze banknoty tolarowe, a w styczniu 1993 r. monety.

On 8 October 1991, the Bank of Slovenia issued provisional payment notes, placing them into circulation as a temporary currency. There were ten different denominations of these notes (1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 5000). All were issued on 8 October 1991 except for 5000 unit note which was issued 27 May 1992. Provisional payment notes went out of circulation on 6 November 1992 (1000), on 30 June 1993 (1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500) and on 1 February 1994 (5000).

In September 1992, the first tolar banknotes were placed into circulation, followed by coins in January 1993.
