This series switched out all on the personalities of previus banknotes and had old Norwegian arts and handicrafts on the reverse, instead of the traditional professions.

This banknote was the first ordinary banknote with the writing in Nynorsk (new Norwegian, which is based on conservative dialects. In contrast to Bokmål (book language) which is based on Danish). The contrast is in Bokmål the word Norway's is “Norges” and in Nynorsk it is “Noregs”.

There have been banknotes before with Nynorsk, but that were emergency banknotes from under the Second World War.
