Gdyby doszło do okupacji, banknoty mogłyby zostać uznane przez rząd USA za bezwartościowe. USA Territorial Treasury 1942 Emergency Silver Certificate Issue. Issued in July 1942 in the event of potential invasion and occupation of the US territory of Hawaii by Japanese forces. If occupation occurred, the notes could be deemed worthless by the US government. In October 1944 the emergency monetary conditions were declared over, and the notes were then used on different Pacific islands recaptured by US forces during WWII.

These notes appear as Hawaii (not USA) P#36 in SCWPM General Issues. The note is identical to USA P#416a (1935A) with black overprinted HAWAIIs and brown serial numbers and brown seal (instead of blue serial numbers and blue seal as P#416a).

There also exists a P#416AY (1935A) with blue serial numbers and yellow seal, for US military use in north Africa during WWII.
