Zwykły
Previously known as issues from an uncertain principality in Eastern Sogdiana, these types were recently identified to have been from the Principality of Fiknan, centered around the Oases of Gallaaral & Jizzakh, in the middle/lower Sangzar River region.
An alternative reading of the reverse legend suggests: “x’ttwnh MR’Y pykn’n”, translated as “Coin of the ruler Nana-Khatun”. Yet another reading suggests the legend “Mistress [and] ruler of Fiknan”.
The busts featured on the obverse are reversed from their usual positions; the female portrait is on the left and the male is on the right. Only 6 specimens were known to Atakhojaev and Naymark at the publication of “Coins of the Sogdian Principality of Fiknan”.
