W 1177 r. Raymond Béranger, brat Alfonsa i hrabia Prowansji, stworzył wraz z biskupem Arles walutę pariage, zwaną królewską z mitrą. Waluta ta była bita do 1185 roku. W 1186 r. Alfons I zlecił przewiezienie waluty do Marsylii.
