Issued in annual silver set (sales unknown) as well as individually on 18/11/2007 (10,000 issue limit; 7,095 sales), the coin was also struck in copper-nickel, silver piedfort and gold proof.

There have been reports that errors exist with the incorrect edge inscription destined for the London Olympic Centenary £2 being used on a small number of coins, with the lettering being "THE 4TH OLMPIAD LONDON"
