Na Sint Maarten importowano wiele fałszywych Stuiverów, więc zdecydowano, że prawdziwe monety będą znakowane. Pierwsza próba została podjęta 29-12-1797 roku z pakietem 7 strzał. Stuivers bez znaku zostały uznane za przestarzałe. Ponieważ znak był łatwy do podrobienia, został zastąpiony 3 dni później przez kwadratowe i okrągłe znaki STM.
Scho/II zauważa, że oficjalne dokumenty twierdzą o produkcji tej monety (Publicatie 28-11-1805), ale żadna z nich nie została znaleziona w żadnej kolekcji w momencie pisania tego tekstu (1951). Być może jest to powód, dla którego Krause nie wspomina o tej monecie. Passon (2022) wspomina o tym typie wraz z obrazem.
