(en) Coin issued by order of the Grand-Ducal Decree of 29 September 1947 for an amount of 5 million francs. They were struck at the Brussels mint with an alloy of silver (835 ‰) and copper (165 ‰) and a tolerance of 3 thousandths. The tolerance of the weight being 10 thousandths.

After demonetization in 1955, 2000 pieces were restruck in 1964 while retaining the year of 1946. The relief of these coins is less pronounced than on the original strikes and the flute is irregular, even absent in some places.

A coin commemorating the heroic death of John the Blind at the Battle of Crécy on 26 August 1346 and on the other hand the translation of his ashes from Kastel-Staadt to the crypt of the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Luxembourg on August 26, 1946.
