Gaferut to niewielka wyspa o powierzchni 28 akrów położona w stanie Yap w Sfederowanych Stanach Mikronezji, 60 mil na północny wschód od Faraulep na Wyspach Karoliny na Oceanie Spokojnym. Wyspa ma około 1500 stóp długości i 500 stóp szerokości. Rafa w kształcie półksiężyca rozciąga się na około 500 do 750 stóp poza wyspę i jest odsłonięta podczas odpływu. Wyspa znajduje się na 9 stopni 14 minut na północ i 145 stopni 43 minuty na wschód.
